On her launch film
Shaapit is not exactly the most conventional horror film. It has a love story that seamlessly integrates with it, and that is what made me take it up. I play Kaaya, a simple girl who falls in love with Aditya Narayan. My character is that of a girl who is stuck with a generational curse, which does not let her marry anyone.
Worried about being launched with a horror film?
I wasn’t too keen on beginning my career with a horror film. But when Vikram Bhatt narrated the script to me, I was more than happy to be a part of such project. It wasn’t too difficult; I wanted to do the film after a couple of meetings.
Day 1: Shoot
I was feeling nervous and excited on the first day of the shot. In fact, whenever I landed on the sets, I would get butterflies in my stomach. I was very nervous, as everyone was looking at me.
Co-star Aditya Narayan
He has become a good friend. We enjoyed the work, and he often sang for us. Adi is young as I am, and it was fun.
Future projects
I have been extremely busy with
Shaapit and haven’t signed anything new.
Acting is not new to you as you have done television earlier. But being from a Marvadi family, did you face parental opposition when you initially announced your decision to join the entertainment industry?
Luckily, my parents are supportive. Plus, my dad graduated from the Film Institute, but later got into business. My grandfather (maternal) owned a recording studio. So, this line is not an alien concept to my family. They were pretty cool about it.
Starting with television and now a Bollywood debut! How does it feel? Are you nervous?
Yes, a little, as your first film matters. It decides whether people will cast you in future or not. But I am pretty cool with it. I am glad that I am making my debut opposite Aditya, that too in a Vikram Bhatt film.
