Percept Pictures is already making a film on the same subject with Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead and this film is a separate project altogether.

The film has been titled The Serpent Flies and Prawaal Raman is the director. About Lisa’s casting, he says, ‘Lisa is the female protagonist in the film as Charles’ love interest. After hearing about her illness, I was wondering if bringing up work would be wise. But she assured me that she’s on. I'm in touch with her regularly. I'm sure she'll be able to shoot quite comfortably. We'll make sure of that. I can't even dream of replacing her.’

The director met Sanjay Dutt recently and he agreed to be part of the film in spite of the other remakes in the pipeline. Along with Percept, even Ram Gopal Varma is making a film on Sobhraj. Prawaal says, ‘I don't know about the other project that has been announced, as far as the authenticity is concerned but I know that they are inspired from his life.’

He adds, ‘My film is a biopic; his story narrated cinematically. He even sued me for this. My uncle Amod Kant is a top cop in Delhi and he is the unofficial consultant on the film so that we steer clear of legal troubles during making it.’ The film will go on the floors in December this year. He also hopes to reunite Bipasha and Sanjay after Lamhaa and All the Best in his film as one of Sobhraj’s love interests.
