Uday Chopra’s Impossible

The youngest Chopra scion talks about his upcoming film that is touted as his comeback and why he isn’t part of every second YRF production.

‘I wasn’t happy with the way my career was going and the films being offered to me. All this made me very upset, and I suffered from depression,’ admits Uday. Did his depression have anything to do with Tanisha, his Neal ‘n’ Nikki  co-star and ex-gal? ‘Not at all, my depression was solely due to my career,' he clarifies promptly.

''Pyaar Impossible is an idea I have had in my head for a long time, even before Neal ‘n’ Nikki was made. I wrote about five-six drafts, after which my brother loved it and we went ahead with the film. I am glad the film is complete now, and the promos will start airing soon,' he smiled.

‘My character in PI is similar to what I am in real life, because we both love technology and gadgets, so we are geeks. We are both extremely shy and would never express our fondness for a girl. We will write love notes and poems for them, but never go and confess our feelings,’ he reveals.

So why doesn’t he get a role in every second YRF production? ‘We are professional filmmakers making progressive cinema. We want our films to look good, have proper scripts and a cast that does justice to the script. I don’t fit into all the movies we make and that is the simple reason I don’t star in every second Yash Raj film. I don’t want to do Dhoom kind of roles forever. I have overcome my insecurities, and I am in a very happy place now,’ concluded Uday.

While Uday Chopra is upbeat about his career, we snooped around for opinions on him. A trade expert told us, on condition of anonymity, that Uday Chopra has no future as a star in Bollywood. He would do much better behind the scenes. If Pyaar Impossible does well, it will be because of Priyanka Chopra. "Though his acting may be appreciated in this film and others, he will be better off doing supporting roles. It is quite likely that he will take to directing very soon, as he has been intending to do with Dhoom 3, but we'll just have to wait and watch," he added.

We tried contacting his co-stars like Nauheed Cyrusi, John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Tanisha. Nauheed and John were unavailable for comment, Bachchan Junior is out of town, and Tanisha, for whom Uday is a closed chapter, is busy shooting in Los Angeles for a film.
