A source tells us, “Conspicuous by his absence was Akshay Kumar, Shilpa’s former flame. They have been cordial with each other when they met at the Bigg Boss finale and a party last year. Twinkle Khanna and Raj Kundra would have been uncomfortable, which is why Akshay didn’t attend. They just wanted to keep the proceedings clean."

A source adds, "Rumour has it that Akshay Kumar went to the Grand Hyatt hotel, but wasn’t allowed to enter Shilpa’s reception. Even earlier, the band wasn’t allowed to play the songs of Dhadkan.”

He further adds, “Similarly, Raveena Tandon, whom Akshay left for Shilpa, wasn’t present. Kareena Kapoor is in Australia shooting for KJo’s Stepmom remake, and Saif is busy preparing to join her there. Kajol is also in Australia, so she couldn't attend, while sis Tanisha is in LA, USA. Abhishek Bachchan is busy shooting in Goa so only Ash and Big B attended. Preity Zinta was out of the country and returned only last night."

About Salman not being present at the event, "Salman Khan and Shilpa were very good friends once upon a time, but nobody from Salman’s family attended the wedding, as they have grown apart in the past few years."

Some other invitees also could not make it, such as Karisma Kapoor, who is pregnant and resting at home, which suited her better than attending a reception. Surprisingly, Parmeshwar Godrej was not seen. Richard Gere, who shared an infamous kiss with Shilpa, was not invited. Priyanka Chopra is busy shooting in Thailand and couldn’t attend. The Deols are not very social, and chose to stay home.”

Our source concludes, “Lastly, Shiney Ahuja was not invited, keeping in mind the safety and well-being of the female guests! Shilpa had become quite pally with him when they had done Life In A Metro, but post his court case, no one wants to be associated with him."

Shilpa will use her marriage card to keep away from films for a long time. She has not signed on any new work. Her only film to release in 2010 is The Man with Sunny Deol.
