Homosexuality has been legalized but that doesn't mean people have accepted it. It will take time for their perception towards gays/lesbians/transgenders/bisexuals to change. Actors or stars have a lot of money riding on them and their public image is of prime importance. People don't like stars only for the films they do. They like the entire package; they like the person they think the star is. People still laugh at gay people and they are made fun of in most movies. Bollywood maybe debauched and hypocritical but on the surface, it is conservative and perfect. It will be a while till queer people in B-town come out of the closet. The law has been repealed only now and we have a long way to go. |
