“I am from Delhi, and I moved to Bombay three years ago. I have an Air-Force background, which means I have lived all over the country. I have done theatre all over the country and abroad too. Having a bent towards acting, the shift to Bombay was inevitable. I heard about
Teen Patti through a friend and auditioned for the film. A few rigorous auditions later, I was delighted to be signed on,” says Dhruv.
“Leena Yadav and Ambika Hinduja made sure we were brilliantly prepared for the movie. We had a year long prep-time, which helped all four of us (Dhruv Ganesh, Shraddha Kapoor, Siddharth Kher and Vaibhav Talwar) bond and get to know each other well. We went for workshops with Barry John and Ashley Lobo, among others, and had several sit-downs with the director regarding the script and screenplay. We had professional card players who trained us in the game. That is how I learnt Teen Patti. The preparation was absolutely fantastic, and it is an investment for us because it will help us in the future. I am very grateful for that,” smiles Dhruv.
Dhruv’s character in
Teen Patti is called Bikram. He tells us, “Bikram comes from a very strict and conservative background, and his family is not wealthy. So, he wants to get away from it all. He looks up to his professor Venkat, Mr. Bachchan’s character, and feels privileged when he is asked to be part of the game and the
Teen Patti gang. Initially, his interests are academic, but he becomes greedy and calculative as time passes.”
About the film, he tells us, “I think the music by Salim-Sulaiman is something else. The film has been shot beautifully by Aseem Bajaj, and it will be a stunning visual treat. The direction, the production scale and the artwork are unparalleled. The movie is going to inspire people and make them laugh and cry and feel for the characters. I am confident everyone is going to like it.”
Be sure to catch
Teen Patti when it deals out on 26 February, 2010.
