Kites has two versions: one for the Indian market and another for the international market. The English version is being edited by director Brett Ratner (of the Rush Hour series fame). Rakesh Roshan approached Rajkumar Hirani to edit the Bollywood version, but the ace director refused to oblige Roshan. What is shocking is that Roshan approached Hirani to edit the film even though he is an established and celebrated filmmaker with super-duper hit films like the
Munnabhai series and
3 Idiots.
A source told us that Rakesh met Raju almost two weeks ago to ask him to edit the movie for him. Not many know that Hirani is an FTII graduate, who has superbly edited most of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s films and his own films. Roshan wants him to supervise the love tale after seeing the success of his films.
The source further told us that Raju Hirani would have gladly edited the film, but he has some previous commitments to fulfill. He has to fly to Los Angeles to finalize the scripts of
Munnabhi Chale Amerika and
Ferrari ki Sawari. He has to fly out today and could not have changed his schedule at such short notice.
Raju Hirani’s spokesperson denied the story.
