Acting in his blood, Abhay however clarifies that he isnt aping his uncle and brothers but had always been fond of theatre since his school days. “At the age of 18, I decided to take the plunge. It took me ten years because I didn’t want to leave my education to get into films. But I can say that the tag of being from the Deol family I has given me a good headstart in the Industry.”

After his deliberate hit Dev D, Abhay is now going to start his own production house called ‘Forbidden Films’ and he will play the lead in his first film that of an action hero. Titled Basra, Abhay speaks of his film saying, “Yes its true, now that I am done with my film Road, I am planning to start own production film Basra which I will start for shooting next year.”

Apart from this Abhay’s been shooting for Aisha – the film based on Jane Austen’s Emma in which he’s cast opposite Sonam Kapoor. The actor explains, "I liked the script and my role in the movie, it was something I felt comfortable doing. Its a great experience interacting with new people and it only helps me learn and grow more as an actor. Abhay is also learning a form of martial art on the sets of Aisha these days, and he add, "I’m learning that for my next film, Basra and also for another film I've signed."
