Shilpa Shetty refused to sell her upcoming wedding pictures to Raj Kundra (including her sangeet and mehendi) to UK's Hello magazine for a whopping 75,000 pounds (over Rs. 50 lakh). This is probably the first time that an Indian actress has been offered such a high amount for the coverage of an event. Shilpa’s
Bigg Brother win made her a celebrity in Britain’s Indian community, and Hello only wants to cash in on that new-found fame. However, Shilpa, who is working hard on keeping her wedding all hush-hush, is not interested in publicizing her wedding day.
A source close to the actress confirmed, “Shilpa, in real life, is a very private person. She wants to keep the wedding on a low profile, and that was the reason she decided not to have a lavish wedding in Raj's opulent 10 million-pound mansion at Surrey in UK. Also, her family is very superstitious, that being the reason behind the wedding's preponement. She wants her day to be a small, beautiful and cozy gathering of her closest friends and family. Shilpa is not interested in making money out of her wedding, and that was the reason behind her rejecting the offer from Hello.” Shilpa, however, will be posing for pictures for the Indian press outside the venue in Lonavla on November 22nd, her wedding day, but the media will strictly not be allowed inside.
