Krishna Shah, who was nominated for the Golden Globe awards, has been writing the script for
Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story for the last 23 years. And at last, after the hard work and collecting the entire information, he is now planning to bring it in Big Screen by the end of 2011, as reported by Variety magazine.
After he finalized the script, it was difficult to finalise who would play the lead, and then he finalised Bollywood’s biggest actress Madhuri Dixit to essay the role.
It’s a very ambitious project, and will be one of the impotant project of Madhuri’s life. She is in U.S, and was not reachable to comment on it.
Shah is planning to start shooting in April 2010 in India. Some shots will be shot outdoors in US and Russia. "It's such an exciting, dramatic story. The canvas of her life is too big to be contained in one film," the writer-director said.
Our sources close to the director revealed that “ the film will be in Hinglish. And it's not going to be the typical Hindi film. There will be no dance, songs and masala in the film."
Madhuri Dixit, who is considered one of the finest actresses in Bollywood, has been compared with Nargis, Madhubala and Rekha. The 42-year-old Dixit is known for her roles in blockbusters like
Beta, Tezab, Dil and
Devdas. Her last Bollywood film was
Aaja Nach Le, which did not do well at the box-office. She lives in the US with her doctor husband Shriram Nene and two sons Arin and Raayan. She is the only one suitable to play this role.
Director, producer and writer Krishna Shah Shah's works include films like
Hard Rock Zombies,American Drive-In, Cinema Cinema and
Shalimar. He has even produced
Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama in the year 1992
