Directed by Balki who earlier directed
Bachchan and Tabu in
Cheeni Kum, Paahighlights the plight of a 12-year-old boy, Auro, played by Big B, suffering from a rare medical disorder called Progeria.
Abhishek Bachchan and
Vidya Balan essay the roles of Auro’s parents, and the role reversal of real-life father-son jodi has piqued the audience’s interest. However,
Paa is also a sort of second innings for Bachchan’s home production AB Corp, which was under financial turmoil until a few years ago.
The Bachchans have dived headfirst into preparations of the premiere, and sources close to them say that the event will stand out like no other. “They have decided to give the premiere the theme of a children’s nursery, and while the plan earlier was to have Big B dressed up as Auro to receive the guests, director Balki scrapped the idea later on. Calling the make-up artists all the way from LA didn’t seem right to him, and also, he didn’t want the attention to divert from the movie to Mr. Bachchan,” the source explained.
As for as
Shah Rukh and
Aamir being present at the premier goes, the source adds that Bachchan personally invited the two Khans at the event. Big B even confirmed the news of their presence and several other details on his blog saying, ‘The London and Dubai premieres stand cancelled. Several issues have cropped up, and it would not be prudent to go ahead with it, under such uncertain pressures and circumstances. But Mumbai is on … at the IMAX Wadala, on the 3rd of December, and Aamir and Shah Rukh have both assured me of their presence there today, as I begin to send out letters and requests to block the said date from the industry.’
Aamir and Bachchan have only just began to bond over their films, and Big B had even called Aamir over to discuss their upcoming films
3 Idiots and
Paa respectively. They both jointly decided to promote their films, and Aamir spoke of
Paa saying, “
Paa is a very unique and different concept. The promos of the film caught my attention, and I was amazed at how Balki has worked on the fine details of Mr. Bachchan’s character in the movie. The audiences today believe in unique and intellectual cinema, and I know
Paa will cater to their needs.” On the other hand, Shah Rukh hasn't openly spoken of
Paa, but the Bachchan's have always made it their duty to involve King Khan in their endeavours.
