Both films
Kissan and
Main Aurr Mrs Khanna that released under Sohail’s production house this year didn’t fare well at all at the box office. The only film that probably did well under his home production was
Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, way back in 2005. It is pretty clear that Sohail has been facing a lot of financial issues, and Salman has finally come to his rescue. Salman even asked father Salim to step in and help advice Sohail on business matters.
A source close to the Khans added, “Salman doesn’t interfere in his brother’s business matters. Only when they come to him for advice does he aid them. It is the same for Arbaaz, who’s started off with his own production. However, Salman’s decision on taking up the mantle of Sohail’s production house comes after
Main Aurr Mrs Khanna bombed at the BoxOffice.
Main Aurr Mrs Khanna was a Diwali release and came right after Salman’s mega hit
Wanted.
MAMK tarnished his new-found fame after
Wanted, and that’s when he took the production house seriously. He felt
MAMK wasn’t marketed well by Sohail, and now, Salman is going to make sure that he is present in every business meeting and promotional duties of the house.”
Maybe Salman has finally understood the power of owning and running your own production house, as his fellow co-stars
Aamir Khan and
Shah Rukh Khan, who have several successful ventures through their houses. The production house works on the name of the star, and Salman's star power can give that added boost to Sohail's home production as well. Whether or not Sohail has his elder brother taking up the reins of his business venture is yet to be known, as Sohail hasn’t yet spoken of the issue and is trying to keep mum about the matter. “Obviously, he won't highlight the fact that the production house isn't doing so well. Rather than a business initiative, it is a family matter at the moment,” the source signs off saying.
