Hailed as one of the most influential Indians in New York, Vikram created Vikram Chatwal Hotels, an independent hotel group of nine luxury hotels in five cities. He was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year at the first South Asia Media Awards and was also on the cover of Forbes Asia. Vikram is a well-known name in the international celebrity circuit, and his family is close friends with former American President Bill Clinton.
Apart from
Honeymoon Travels, Vikram was also seen in the Sushmita Sen-starrer
Karma, Confessions and Holi and several Hollywood films such as
One Dollar Curry along with others. He bid his Playboy image goodbye when he married Indian model Priya Sachdev in 2005 in what was called the ‘The wedding of the century’, attended by the who’s who of the international world. They had a daughter, Saphira. Vikram later spoke of his marital woes publicly and separated ways with Priya, after which there was no news of Chatwal in the press or media.
A StarBoxOffice source present at Maseena Hospital revealed, “Vikram Chatwal is admitted in the luxury ward in Maseena Hospital. The drug he is battling, however, is unknown as his case is under much secrecy. He makes his presence felt at several counselling sessions and when asked to speak of his experience, he always induces hope in the patients by speaking of the ill-effects of an unhealthy lifestyle. He has no starry airs whatsoever, and is very humble with the other patients. He actively participates in the sessions and encourages others to do so as well.”
Whether his addiction to drugs was the reason behind his failed marriage is unknown, as it was said that the couple had parted ways amicably. However, it was surprising to know why Vikram would choose Maseena over the many rehab centres in the west, to which the source adds, "Maseena is a well-known rehab centre on par with famous centres in the west. The doctors here are the most sought after, and there are many known names battling their addictions in Maseena. Another reason for Vikram choosing Maseena could be that in the west, it is big news when a celebrity is admitted in a rehab facility. He isn't that known in India due to his small roles, but in the U.S, he is known for his flourishing business and high-flying lifestyle."
