Born in Yangon, Burma, Laila was brought up by a doctor father and a simple house wife mother of an Arabic Indian family who settled in Malaysia ( KL ). After acquiring a degree in BSC she continued her further studies from University of Californiaand become Master degree holder However she ended up modelling for Lancome cosmetics (Malaysia ) when she was barely 22 and that marked her first step in to the entertainment world.
Laila made her foray into Bollywood with her first Hindi movie 'Kool Nahi Hot Hai Hum in 2008 October. Apart from that she has several films such as Director Partho Ghosh's "Sazaa" ,director Shyam Ramsay's Hindi feature film "Chor Pe Mor", director Santosh Gupta's "Faraar" and director Santanu Sen Gupta's Bengali feature film “Maryada” in her kitty. On working her way into the industry on her will and might, she says, “If the aspiring one cant trace his or her most distant connection to Bollywood, the chances of survival become all the more thin. Those able to survive, however, are the winners in true sense that's what I believe in. I don't have any dream role in mind; I want to try out everything. I don't believe in being a glam doll, I just want to be a good actor.” Laila had other plans before she ventured into the B-town world, "I actually wanted to be a successful business woman after my M.B.A but fate had something else in store for me." However the newbie actress is happy with all that she has received till now and signs off saying, “I am the boss of my life. Fear nothing except God Al mighty. I live in my own zone. I really enjoy being alone. I m very emotional Virgo, I don't hurt anyone and I am very transparent. I am very religious person though I don't look like one.I am doing pretty well for myself, and I am proud to be the person I am."
