“After the success of Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Naa, Imran has become a heartthrob internationally - places like the middle-east countries and also in US and UK, while Sanjay Dutt is also favorite in those countries," a source involved in the decision said, "and fortunately Eid is also coming around the time of the release and it's a festival which is celebrated by both the actors."
As Eid is a big day for people to go out and celebrate in those countries, the producers decided to cash in. "We speculated that in those places the film will get good response and we didn't want to miss out on a bumper day."
The optimism comes mainly out of the hyper surrounding Imran who, according to the source, "will be seen doing some daredevil stunts in the movie." Though his role in his debut film was that of a chocolate lover boy, Imran's character in Kidnap is kind of negative. He kidnaps Sanjay Dutt's daughter, played by Minissha Lamba, on her 18th birthday.
The success of Jaane Tu in those territories has made the producers particularly bullish. Kidnap is being distributed by Studio 18 internationally.
