"The doctors are happy with Amitji's response to the treatment. He has been on a liquid diet since Saturday when he was admitted in Lilavati Hospital. Rushed in the middle of the day following recurring stomach pain, the actor went through a series of tests on his birthday on Saturday. The actor is said to have vomited on Friday night (October 10) and was running a fever. His family therefore suggested going to Nanavati to make sure the problem wasn't serious. It is believed Bachchan's family doctor then suggested a more detailed check up in Lilavati. On reaching Lilavati, the actor underwent an endoscopy which revealed a slight swelling internally. The actor was therefore admitted in Lilavati where he has remained for the past three days.
With the superstar's health taking a sudden turn for the worse, one of the biggest concerns in the industry was for how long, the actor would stay off his feet and was this bout a relapse of the actor's previous illness. The actor had been admitted in hospital in November 2005 for a colonic surgery. Many suggest that the actor's recent gruelling schedule is one of the reasons why this problem has re-surfaced.
A doctor from the hospital has confirmed that Bachchan is now much more stable but requires complete bed rest. "He is reponding well to our medication. However, he has been advised complete rest for the next coming weeks. But there is definitely nothing to worry about as he is in a stable condition," said the doctor.
