It’s a stunner!‘Life gives you one chance, just grab it and make the most of it or just forget it’ – is the message the film carries for all the strugglers who’re trying really hard to make it big in Bollywood.
Chance Pe Dance, directed by Ken Ghosh, who also directed Shahid’s debut film
Ishq Vishk Pyaar Vyaar in 2003 has once again created the same magic onscreen after seven long years with actor Shahid Kapoor.
If you’ve been waiting for that big break in Bollywood and after several trials have completely lost hope, you really should go watch
Chance pe Dance and the film is sure to give you a hope. Though the script is a little weak in places, Shahid (Sameer) and Genelia (Tina) have pretty much made up for it. Shahid, plays a struggler in the film, while Genelia is a choreographer, who supports him till the end. When Genelia realises how serious he is about making a career in Bollywood and that after being rejected a couple of times he starts feeling like a loser, she finally urges Sameer to enter the talent hunt and guess what? He emerges a winner and eventually becomes a superstar. Yeah! we know now this is like any other typical Hindi film, but it’s kind of cute to watch Shahid and Genelia do that part onscreen.
What’s nice about the film is that it’s quite realistic and easily relates with people who haven’t got a chance to taste success in a long time. It was also nice to watch a film that had no
‘dhishqua – dhishqua’ (guns) and no overtly evil characters for a change. But over all, the film was good.
In fact, people who’ve easily achieved success may not like the film and pass comments like, there’s no chance for this dance, or it’s a dumb and boring film, etc, but we’re telling you, if you’re a die-hard Shahid Kapoor fan, you must go watch it. Not just for his rocking looks, eight-pack abs, and cool dancing style but also because he’s improved quite a lot as far as acting goes. You watch the film and you’ll notice the change in him. His attitude, dialogue delivery, expressions and yes, not to forget his physique has really improved. In fact, it’s also true that some incidents in the film reflect the actor’s real life struggle. It shows similar situations that Shahid went through in his struggling days, which director himself said in a recent TV interview.
And now let us tell you a bit about Genelia. As usual, she’s looking really cute in the film. Especially, her cute purple hair extension that she’s wearing throughout the film looked quite cool on her. Also, dialogues like
‘You...cockroach ke bacche, 'abbey fukat ali saale' , 'tu sab pav kha gaya' , 'arey sone do yaar is soyabean ko,’ etc add some fun to the film.
Now, here’s something we didn’t like about the film and that is the film’s music arranged by singer Adnan Sami. We suggest, you only stick to singing Mr Sami. Music composing is just not meant for you, trust us! People like A R Rahman, Salim-Sulaiman, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, etc still exist. In short, not a single song is appreciable. But hats off ! to American choreographer Marty Kudelka for the wonderful moves that he’s taught Shahid.
