Mumbai: Shane Warne, Captain of the Rajasthan Royals, has given the IPL the thumbs up in his coloumn in UK daily - The Times.
The spin wizard, who has led his side to a surprising second place in the current IPL standings, was full of praise for the league after not knowing what to expect intially. "I didn't know what to imagine from the Indian Premier League, but the games have been intense, hard-fought and the sideshows spectacular. If the buzz around the grounds is a guide, then the IPL is even bigger than anyone predicted."
The Aussie great was quick to point out the fact that a lot of spinners were being hammemered out of the park. "Unfortunately, most of the spinners are being smashed around. Boundaries are so small that you can deceive a guy in the flight and still see the ball fly for six off the top edge. I suppose Twenty20 is about big hits and supporters go crazy when it clears the ropes, but a 55-metre boundary does not make for much of balance," he added.
He signed of saying that it would be difficult for anything to compete with the IPL. However, he said that if indeed Allen Stanford managed to create a replica in the UK he would love to have a go and captain the All Star XI.
